Recent advisory opinions from Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice highlighted the importance of a right to a healthy environment.

The right to a healthy environment includes:

  • Clean air

  • The provision of adequate nutritious foods

  • Clean drinking water.

It should be one of the major pillars in a person’s quality of life. It also reinforces the importance of tackling the triple planetary threat: climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste.
